  • Annual Legumes with lime application
  • Annual legumes without lime application

At our Winter Forage Demonstration Site in Goulburn, NSW, we’re collaborating with a valued customer to showcase a range of annual legumes and their performance with and without lime application. Lime is known to improve the nitrogen fixation of some legumes, creating higher crop yields, and providing needed minerals like calcium and magnesium. Moreover, it makes it easier for plants to absorb the nutrients they need and can displace aluminum from the soil, making it more hospitable for plants.

Our demonstration site aims to provide farmers with valuable insights into the benefits and considerations of applying lime, helping them make informed decisions about their winter forage production. By comparing the legumes with and without lime application, the site showcases the differences in growth, yield, and nutrient uptake, highlighting the importance of applying lime at the right time and in the right amount. We aim to educate farmers on the pros and cons of lime application and its impact on their crops, so they can optimize their winter forage production.
